Robert D. Bacon
Robert D. Bacon
Indianapolis, Indiana 1855-1860
Robert Bacon was a silversmith who worked with George W. Minter in Indianapolis circa 1855-1860, the firm being known as Bacon & Minter. Apparently they were silversmiths who produced silver items for W.H. Talbott & Co., and their shop was located behind Talbott’s establishment. Likely some of the State Fair premium cups sometimes encountered today, and bearing dates in the 1850s are products of the Bacon & Minter shop. By 1859, Minter had moved to Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Robert Bacon continued to work in Indianapolis, likely for the Talbott establishment.
